The sandwich loaf.... perfect.... cranberry loaves... while next time I won't split the dough but use it for just one loaf, the cranberry bread is still quite tasty, with a very nice texture. YUM! The baguettes... well.... they don't look so good.... but a piece of crust broke off when I was taking it out of the pan and it tasted really yummy.... so.... I'll know tomorrow how they are... will report back. I have watched the french bread show several times and Julia's bread didn't look all that nice either... so maybe I have it right. All I know is, it sure is nice to have fresh bread in the house again.
Out of town again this weekend... no cooking... good thing I didn't put myself on a timeline! I'm really wanting to make a Charlotte Malakoff... but... it is a big dessert and Joe is out of town all next week, so I have to wait til I have several around to eat it. Plus it takes 2 days to set in the refrigerator before it is ready to eat, and you have to make the lady finger cookies prior to making the Charlotte. It sure does look good tho!
When I finally get aroud to making the Charlotte, it will be my first real lesson in 'un-molding', which I hear is quite a booger to master. I think the key to un-molding is patience, and talking out loud to yourself... like when you enter a dark scary place and you talk to yourself out loud! LOL LOL Anything that has to be un-molded likes to be verbally coaxed and cooed out of the mold.
Long day... got a lot done... I feel very tired but accomplished. A really good feeling!
Til Sunday night...
